Happy Snapper

I know a guy who is obsessed with taking photos and he is good. He has started a facebook group and I thought I'd post some of his work as I love it. He's started teaching me and it's really fun and makes you see the world with "new" eyes. Very cool.

Doing a Tiara

I made it to work this morning my usual 10 minutes late (I was born overdue so it's totally not my fault ok)and was checking my emails when the co-worker informed me that she had done "a Tiara". I knew her story was going to be an interesting one. She explained that she had broken up with her BF last Saturday and didn't even know as she had been half asleep and under the influence of Sinus medication. The poor guy had accidentally woken her up and she had told him to "eff off" or something similar. So he took that as "it's over!" She had wondered why he'd been acting funny this week..."Now it all makes sense T."
See how important communication is y'all?!
Reminds me of the time she gave me a myprodol just before home time and I then had a glass of wine, passed out and woke up at 9pm having missed an important dinner date. Oops.
Happy Friday!

Amanda's Shavings

www.freshlysharpenedpencils.blogspot.com
I started following this blog today. It's an interior designer friend's and it is inspiring! (she in fact also inspired my earlier post)After reading hers I wanted to rush home and transform my flat. I just yearn to do creative stuff and hardly ever seem to have the time these days...sigh. Anyway we're working on a very cool project together which I will reveal later...very girly and sassy. Watch this space.

Duh

Ok feeling seriously dumb. The Italian banker just SMSed me to point out that the E theme song I blogged about on Friday is by Adam Lambert NOT Danny K. My bad. I can't help being blonde mkay.but really wonder why I thought that? Oh well.

Style icon

"For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone." ~ Audrey Hepburn

I'm here for your entertainment

So I was sitting on my blue couch last night drinking red wine and watching the Kardashians (which I am ADDICTED to!) followed by Kendra, the true Hollywood Story (she was a druggie which didn't surprise me). I was also planning a few things so wasn't entirely focused but something seemed a bit off. I couldn't put my finger on it and continued trawling gumtree when it hit me. E Entertainment's new theme song is Danny K's new track! You know, the one that's on 5fm all the time lately? I don't quite know what to make of this. Part of me is proud, part of me realises that LA is where good taste goes to die and the rest is just really jealous! But kudos to Danny. It's a catchy song and he must be rolling in it. Asshole.

Laughter is the best medicine

That's my friend Anne Hirsch at my Halloween party last year. She went as Baby Jake Matlala. Suffice to say she is a very entertaining girl. Last year she took part in, and won, the Fanta "So you think you're funny?" show on local tv. Since then she has been doing very well on the comedy circuit working with Paul Snodgrass, Rob van Vuuren and the like.
I received this facebonk (she made that up) message from her yesterday regarding her group (http://http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/event.php?eid=103859266316963):

Rain rain go away...

It makes me lazy. I was a Summer baby after all. I have this theory that you love the season you were born in. Hmmm. Am at work trying to be creative and come up with award-winning ideas while weasel aka baby sister and Puffin dream sweetly in their warm beds. I feel like a mom lately. But I kind of like it. I think I might be becoming responsible! Who knew? Soon I'll be scrap booking and planning meals a week ahead. Middle sister would be so proud.
Not sure what will transpire this weekend as Possum is currently a death trap(lights don't work, gearbox is stuffed, she's making wierd noises...) Why oh why did i not listen to stepfwaza when he warned me against French cars? Actually experience has taught me that most things French should be avoided. Except croissants of course. And couture. But back to Possum. I am most unhappy with Citroen's service standards and Puff and I told them so. Well actually Puff threatened them with bodily harm which might have made matters worse. So I can only get an appointment on 22 April. Sigh. I fear my social life may be severely affected by this as driving at night with no lights is not ideal. Thank you wankers. I will just drop off the social radar and become a pariah like Minnie Driver. Shudder.
Think of me on the couch while you are getting raucously drunk and having the time of your lives this weekend...sniff.

Big Paul Knows

My friend Paul's new venture. He is a saffa living in London. I worked with him in the days of Zoo Bar and always knew he'd do something cool. Cuz he's just that kind of guy.
His mission motto : "To help and promote those around me to their greatest possible heights"
Check out his website and his inspiring blog:

WTF?

Would someone be so kind as to explain this? a fire extinguisher made out of wood? i've seen them in Deer Park and at Rhodes Memorial. what is the point...if a fire breaks out you rip the play-play extinguisher off the tree and use the power of the mind to douse the flames? come on now! i know we're in africa but really.

that's my rant for the day.

That Sunday morning feeling

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTJteb5g_EE

cute

Easter Sunday

Happy Easter y'all! we kicked off the holy celebrations by making our way to Rhodes Memorial. with coffee on the go and hot cross buns courtesy of Engen (had an interesting chat with check out girl but let's not get distracted)we beetled up the hill towards what we imagined to be a peaceful sunrise and were met by a million cars queuing to get in. "what the fuck is going on here baybee?!" i asked as paranoia set in. Puff just shrugged nonchalantly. after numerous attempts to navigate towards the parking area we gave up and i pulled a pro parallel. as the christians eyed us up as though we were the spawn of satan we strolled towards the light. Puff asked a believer what was up and we were informed that we had wandered right into "the sunrise service". crises. i wanted to make a run for it but Puff got that look in his eye and insisted we stay. i complied reluctantly. we found a quiet corner and observed. i noticed a pug in a tiger print thing that i wanted to steal. Puff was preoccupied with a boy on tick who was being dangled over the edge of the wall by his equally high friend. the christians carried on obliviously intoxicated by "the spirit". sorry now i'm being a bitch. there was some reasonable people about but we have had quite a dramatic weekend so i'm ranting. anyway tick boy was freaking me out so we climbed the steps. puff carried my bag and minced his way past huddles of devotees. i follwed wrapped in a blankie with wayfarers to shield my red wine eyes from the light. we headed for the safety of table mountain and found a perfect rock from which to gaze upon the city. deep breaths. we are now at home and as i write this puff is constructing a mobile from treasures we found along the way. later we shall head to matjie's for lunch and a good deal of wine. obviously.

"Just say no to nonsense." thanks wiesl.x

the circus is coming to town!

how wierd?! i wrote about vaudeville 2 days ago and just stumbled across this on the book. can't wait, last year was raucous. already planning my gypsy outfit...going to jump on puff, he's slept long enough.x

Grrr...

Twas the day of the met. Puff and i did not attend for a reason i know was important at the time but can't remember now. anyhoo, we met up with baby sister and others at a particularly seedy but fun spot in the mont. For a change I was the most sober person in said bar as all the other revellers had been at the races all day. plus it was so packed it took about an hour to get a drink so we gave up and headed for the dance floor. dj played the usual cheese and we were ripping it up until someone got tired and we went to find seats. at this exact moment "Three" by Britney started playing and I could not resist. I started giving Puff the lap dance of his life and got so into the it i became oblivious to everyone around us. i also failed to realise I was wearing a top/dress thing made of slippery fabric that tends to ride up as you move. song ended and i snapped out of it but looked up to see jaws on the floor and looked down to see top/dress around waist. but hey i was wearing cute knickers!
I must credit Janie B for this special moment. she's a designer friend and makes great clothes. check out her shop on long street sometime. Her Tiger top made our night grrr...http://www.janiebclothing.com/
